Perse Girls Tour

UK Visitors - Stephen Perse Foundation Independent Schools (Girls) at Vygieskraal on Sunday 18 August 2013 from 14h00 to 18h00.

The turnout of CHC players, parents and supporters was impressive. A break in the Cape Winter storms provided perfect weather conditions for hockey, contributing to an enjoyable and highly entertaining afternoon of hockey.

CHC was able to to field two full Girls u14 Squads. Numbers were boosted by at least 10 COCT Commcentre girls who had participated in the series of Primary School Outreach activities conducted by Manouk Vernij from 10 July to 10 August 2013. This is a most encouraging development. Both teams gave a good account of themselves, not standing back to their generally bigger opponents.

The Girls u16 squad was boosted by CHC u14/u16 “Old Girls” now playing for their schools and CHC Senior Ladies Division. The squad therefore took on the look of a CHC Girls u14/u16 Class of 2012 Reunion. With the addition of two or three quest players, a formidable CHC Invitation Squad proved to be too much to handle by the UK visitors.

All games were competitive but played in good spirit. Great fun was had by all. Spirits were raised even further by an after-match function with lots to eat and drink -- thanks to Shireen Bardien for laying on a sumptuous spread!

A memorable event well worth the time and effort!  Many thanks to all who contributed .to this success and for being part of a highly rewarding experience.
