BACKGROUND

Over the period 2003-2006 and 2007-2011 the South African Hockey Association (SAHA) and the Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockeybond (KNHB) have enjoyed a fruitful twinning relationship. A thorough coach accreditation system was set up, coach education level 0-1-2 courses were conducted, facilitators were trained and a whole range of education materials produced.  Now that this is all in place, it is time that ALL current and potential players, coaches, teachers and administrators profit from the results of this relationship, especially those of the disadvantaged areas.

MISSION  (a single integrated hockey  program that caters for ALL)

The untapped hockey potential within certain communities, the large player base within the youth sector, good infrastructure at most tertiary institutions, a national coaching accreditation scheme aligned with the FIH and a good competition structure is the foundations for SAHA’s strive to cater for all.

To achieve this mission it will require the collective effort of the entire South African Hockey community and good support from government, macro bodies and sponsors.

METHOD

Professionals at selected regional development centres will enable young athletes from of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop their talents to the best of their ability. The identification and training of coaches, teachers and administrators as well as the KNHB expertise at the development centres will further enhance the program.

VALUES

The South African Hockey Association is committed to the principles of inclusivity, transparency, social justice, trust and good clean corporate governance at all levels. SAHA will ensure equal fairness in all of its operations.
