2011 STRATEGIC PLANNING

Behind the scenes activity has continued unabated since the end of the 2010 season.

A one-day Bosberaad was held in November and the facilitator, Karl Smith, provided much needed and useful insight into the functioning and future of the Club.  Ideas and concepts examined during this exercise were captured in a document that has become the ‘blueprint’ from which Club will operate and measure its success.

The 2011 plan has been activated and is reflected in the activities to date and the 2011 Calendar of Activities and Events.

PLEASE NOTE - THIS WAS AN OPEN FORUM.  DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THIS PROCESS ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL MEMBERS ON REQUEST.

This Festival aims to promote “Education Through Sport” and will cater for up to 400  primary school learners aged 9-12 years.  The emphasis will be on FUN and ACTIVITY – all underpinned by a strong life skills component.
Exciting new initiatives are in the offing which auger well for the future of school sport in general and hockey in particular.  Events like these serve as a vehicle for community development, public health awareness, and increased intercultural connections among participating children.

2011 SENIOR - SEASON FEE STRUCTURE

A projected budget for 2011 was drafted by the very conscientious bean counters and once the shock had worn off, it was time to deliberate the dreaded phrase, ‘season fees’ or ‘subs’ as it is known to some.

Very few members have an idea of just how much it costs to keep a Club like Central afloat and offering the activities and facilities that it does. After much deliberation and more bean counting, the following structure was agreed upon :

Members are assured that 2011 Season Fees remains far less than what is charged by other clubs and organizations.

Senior Playing Members:    R1250.00
March          R350.00 (1st Payment)
April           R300

The 2011 KC March Easter Tournament is scheduled for the Easter weekend from 22 to 24 April and will be hosted by Lakeside Cavaliers in Port Elizabeth.

CONDOLENCES

It was with great sadness that Central lost a truly dedicated parent and supporter, Trevor Mentor, in December 2010.

He was a fervent supporter of the game, particularly matches involving Central and would travel to the hockey venues around the Peninsula to support the teams. This, along with his interest and knowledge of the game was admirable and Easter tournaments without him will just not be the same…….

His presence will be sorely missed.
